From the Founder

Hi, I’m Jennifer—the founder of Starr Studios and the one behind the lens.

With a background in documentary storytelling, my work is rooted in capturing people not just as they are, but as they’re becoming. I’ve photographed people in over 40 countries—from women in remote regions of Africa and India, to hip hop artists in conflict zones, to everyday individuals with extraordinary inner worlds. 

 

These experiences taught me how to listen deeply, witness fully, and hold space for vulnerability—and I bring all of that into the studio. I know that being in front of the lens is vulnerable. It asks you to be seen.

Photography has taught me it's not what we see, but how we see. When we shift how we see ourselves, we shift what becomes possible.  My mission is to help you see yourself more clearly, powerfully, and truthfully.

Empowerment isn’t an afterthought. It’s the intention.
